FAQs

If you’re planning a renovation or new build and have questions about working with an interior designer, you’re in the right place.

I’ve put together these interior design FAQs to answer some of the questions you might have before getting started.

From the types of projects I work on to how the design process, pricing and consultations work, you’ll find more information below.

Still have questions or not sure which service is right for your project? You’re always welcome to get in touch or complete my Project Enquiry Form, and we can go from there.

What types of interior design projects do you work on?
I work on residential renovations and new builds, from individual spaces like kitchens, bathrooms and laundries through to full-home projects.
Depending on your project and what you need help with, I can assist with space planning, layouts, finishes, fittings, fixtures, joinery design and the documentation needed to communicate your design decisions to your builder or trades.
Whether you’re just starting to plan or already have drawings underway, I can help you work through the design decisions involved.

Do you offer interior design services in Melbourne and online across Australia?
Yes! I’m based in Melbourne and offer in-person interior design services locally, as well as virtual design services for homeowners across Australia.
For Melbourne-based projects, I can arrange in-person consultations and site visits where required. If you’re located elsewhere in Australia, we can work together remotely through video calls, emails and shared project information.
The approach will depend on your project, the level of support you need and which service is the best fit.

When should I engage an interior designer for my renovation or new build?
Ideally, as early as possible, before your plans are finalised or construction begins.
Getting an interior designer involved early means we can work through important decisions around layouts, functionality, finishes, fittings and joinery before they become more difficult or costly to change.
That said, you don’t need to be at the very beginning of your project to get help. If you already have plans underway or you’re partway through making selections, I can still help you work through the decisions that haven’t been finalised.

Can you work alongside my builder, architect or building designer?
Absolutely! In fact, I prefer to work closely with the rest of a project’s team. I can work alongside your existing team to help make sure the interior design is properly considered and communicated throughout the process.
Depending on your project, this might involve reviewing plans, developing layouts, selecting finishes and fittings, designing joinery or preparing documentation that your builder and trades can work from.
If you’ve already engaged a builder, architect or building designer, that’s no problem. We can discuss what’s already been completed, where you need additional design support and how I can best fit into your project.
How much do your interior design services cost?
The cost depends on the type of project, the level of design support you need and the scope of work involved.
I offer a range of services, from one-off design consultations through to more comprehensive interior design packages for renovations and new home builds.
You can find information about my available services and starting prices on my Services page. For projects requiring a customised scope, I’ll provide a tailored quote based on your requirements.

What’s included in my interior design fee?
This depends on the service you choose and the scope of your project.
Before we get started, I’ll clearly outline what’s included in your service or proposal, including the design work, deliverables and any consultations or revisions that form part of the agreed scope.
If you need additional design support beyond what’s originally included, we can discuss this separately so you understand any additional costs before proceeding.

How do payments work?
Once we’ve agreed on the scope of your project, I’ll provide an invoice outlining the fees and payment terms.
For larger interior design projects, payments may be split into stages, depending on the scope and duration of the work. For smaller services and consultations, payment is generally required upfront to confirm your booking.
All payment details and due dates will be clearly outlined before we get started.
How does the interior design process work?
The process depends on the service you choose and the scope of your project, but we’ll always start by discussing what you’re planning, what you need help with and where you’re currently at.
From there, I’ll outline the recommended approach, what’s involved and what you can expect at each stage.
For larger projects, this may include initial planning, design development, finishes and fittings selections and detailed documentation. For smaller services or consultations, the process is more focused on the specific decisions you need help with.
Before we begin, you’ll have a clear understanding of how we’ll work together and what you’ll receive.

What do I need to have ready before we get started?
You don’t need to have everything figured out before getting in touch. That’s what I’m here to help with!
Depending on your project, it’s helpful to have any existing floor plans, measurements, inspiration images or information about your budget and timeline ready to share.
If you’re still in the early planning stages and don’t have all of these details yet, that’s completely fine. I’ll let you know what information I need and help you work through anything that’s still undecided.

How long does the design process take?
The timeframe depends on the size and complexity of your project, the service you’ve chosen and how much design work is involved.
Smaller consultations and focused design services generally have shorter turnaround times, while larger renovation and new-build projects can take several weeks or longer, depending on the scope.
Before we get started, I’ll outline the expected timeframe and any key milestones, so you know what to expect and can plan around your project schedule.

Can I make changes to the design along the way?
Of course! Your feedback is an important part of the design process, and I want to make sure the final design works for you and your home.
The number of revisions included will depend on the service and scope of work we’ve agreed on. I’ll explain what’s included before we get started, so you know when you’ll have opportunities to review the design and provide feedback.
If you’d like to make additional changes beyond the agreed scope, we can discuss what’s involved and whether any additional fees apply.
What digital products do you offer, and who are they for?
I’ve created a range of practical renovation planning guides, templates and tools to help you make informed decisions throughout your renovation or new build.
They cover everything from getting started with your renovation and planning your budget to designing kitchens and bathrooms, selecting finishes and keeping track of important project details.
They’re designed for homeowners who want to feel more informed and organised throughout the process, whether you’re managing your own renovation or working with a builder.
You can explore the full range of individual products and bundles in my shop.

How do I access my digital products after purchasing?
Once you’ve completed your purchase, you’ll receive an email with a link to access and download your digital products.
Depending on what you’ve purchased, this may include PDF guides, planning templates or links to Google Sheets and Google Docs resources.
You can save your files to refer back to throughout your project. If you have any trouble accessing your purchase, just get in touch and I’ll help you out.

Can I get help if I have questions about my digital product?
Of course! If you’re having trouble accessing your files or using one of the included templates, just get in touch and I’ll be happy to help.
My digital products are designed to be self-guided, so personalised design advice or recommendations aren’t included with your purchase. If you need additional support with your renovation or specific design decisions, you can explore my interior design services to see how we can work together.

Do you offer refunds on digital products?
As digital products are available to download immediately after purchase, I generally don’t offer refunds for change of mind.
If you experience any issues with your purchase, such as missing files, download problems or a product that isn’t working as expected, please get in touch and I’ll help resolve the issue.
Your rights under Australian Consumer Law still apply, including any remedies you’re entitled to if a product is faulty or doesn’t meet consumer guarantees.
How do I enquire about or book an interior design service?
The best place to start is by completing my enquiry form and telling me a little about your project, what you’re planning and where you need help.
I’ll review the information you’ve provided and get back to you to discuss your project, answer any initial questions and recommend the most suitable next steps.
You don’t need to know exactly which service you need before getting in touch. We can work that out together.

What happens after I submit an enquiry?
Once I’ve received your enquiry, I’ll review the details of your project and get in touch to arrange a brief, complimentary phone or video call.
This gives us a chance to talk through what you’re planning, discuss your requirements and make sure I understand what you need before preparing a proposal.
Following our conversation, I’ll put together a proposal outlining the recommended scope of work, fees and next steps.
If you’re happy to proceed, I’ll guide you through the booking and onboarding process so you know what to expect before we get started.

What if I need to reschedule or cancel a consultation?
I understand that plans can change! If you need to reschedule or cancel a consultation, please get in touch as soon as possible so we can discuss the available options.
Any cancellation, rescheduling or refund conditions that apply to your service will be clearly outlined before you confirm your booking.
For larger interior design projects, any changes to the agreed schedule or scope of work will be discussed separately.
Planning a renovation or new build and not sure what kind of design support you need?
Tell me a little about your project and we can work out the best next step together.
